Cliff
Kolovson, owner of Pointed
Communications has more
than 30 years of communications
experience in one form or another.
Since early 1991, Cliff has operated
Pointed Communications to serve
dozens of small- and medium-sized
companies with a wide variety
of communications projects.
His first career was in community journalism,
having graduated with a BS in Journalism
from the University of North Carolina
at Chapel Hill ('73). For more than 10
years he served as a newspaper reporter,
editor, photographer, and assistant publisher.
His second career was in corporate communications
for high-tech divisions of Eastman Kodak
Co. located in the Boston area This included
nearly 10 years of service for Atex Publishing
Systems, a maker of computer typesetting
and page layout systems for newspapers
and magazines. He also served as marketing
communications director for a division
that sold UNIX-based, multi-purpose computer
systems for law firms.
Robert
Maxwell is founder of Maxwell
Associates, a management consulting firm
specializing in marketing strategy and
business development. He has managed projects,
done research and worked with companies
in a variety of industries to improve
their marketing efforts, sales performance
and management processes.
After graduation from Bowdoin College
with a BA in English, Bob worked as Purchasing
Manager and then as Director of Marketing
& Operations for Bicknell, Inc., a
swimming pool and hot tub distributor.
He led their management team for nine
years when the company tripled sales,
increased profits six-fold, and grew from
3 to 10 branches servicing pool/spa retailers,
builders and service companies throughout
the northeastern United States.
Bob serves on the National Spa &
Pool Institute, Region IX, Board of Directors
and as Chairman of the Region IX Design
Awards Competition. He has been advisor,
coach and project manager to a variety
of small, mid-size and large corporations.
Client work includes strategy development,
creating marketing programs, hiring sales
teams, improving presentations, developing
sales and marketing tools, business planning,
evaluating and implementing business processes,
market research, profit and budget planning,
trade show and lead management, and dealer
training seminars.
For the past five years, Bob and Cliff
have worked together on a number of projects
for companies in the swimming pool and
hot tub industry.
